Hello families!
It's hard to believe the last week of school is here! Please see below for some important reminders. Our class party will be held on Wednesday, 6/12 at snack time. Students do not need to bring a snack. Thank you to our room reps for organizing all of our great parties this year! The last day of school is Friday, June 14 ~ half day 11:30 release. There is no Extended Day! We will be celebrating summer birthdays during the last week of school. If your child has a birthday in the summer, they will be celebrated one day during the last week of school! Keep an eye out for end of year pictures and supply lists for K1 next year. Next week, we will be finishing our OWL curriculum! See below for centers and reminders. We will also be spending time next week catching up on our end of the year portfolios and projects! Butterfly Observations (SCIENCE) Planting Lima Beans (SCIENCE) Flower Stamping (ART) Important Dates: Friday 5/24 - Tag Day to support MS Monday 5/27 - Memorial Day NO SCHOOL The weather is finally nice! We will be enjoying the outside almost every morning. Please make sure your child wears socks and sneakers to school each day and apply sunscreen to your child before school. We hope you enjoyed the spring concert yesterday - we are so proud of all of their hard work :) Since we had such a busy week, we will spend next week catching up on our centers from last week. They are posted below. Growing Grass Seed (SENSORY): Observes the life cycle of plants. Participates in activities to explore the earth and soil. Observes and identifies the characteristics and basic requirements of living things. Flower Shop (DRAMATIC PLAY): Contributes to a group. Takes part in role playing, turn taking, negotiation, and conversation. Plays imaginatively. Observing Caterpillars (SCIENCE): Observes and explores organisms in the environment. Observes and identifies the characteristics of living things, Planting Bean Seeds & Flowers (SCIENCE): Observes and identifies the characteristics of living things. Describes the physical properties of objects. Observes and explores organisms. Reminders: -Friday, 5/24 is a tag day. OWL Stories: "I Heard Said the Bird' 'Make Way for Ducklings' Spring Show~ Thursday, May 16: We will be participating in 2 shows, at 10:00 & 6:00. Children should return to school at the O. Street extended day door at 5:30 (no earlier) for the 6:00 show. Please be prompt, as we are one of the first to go on stage! We are singing "A Bushel and A Peck" and "I Love to Laugh." This week week we will begin OWL Unit 6 "Things that grow". You can find the centers below. Printing with vegetables (ART): Explores and experiments with wet media to create artwork. Explores and experiments with lines and symmetry in artwork. Explores and experiments with basic shapes and lines in artwork. Basic house play: Making soup (DRAMATIC PLAY): Engages in socio-dramatic play Uses language while participating in dramatic play.Creates scenarios and props for dramatic play. Inspecting flower seeds (SCIENCE): Uses language to discuss or describe observations. Uses simple tools and equipment to increase understanding.
