Hello families,

Next week we will be finishing our final week of the first OWL unit. Our centers are posted below.

Playing with Water Wheels (WATER): Asks questions about materials. Explores simple machines. Engages in conversation and uses language to play with others. Coordinates body movements to perform simple tasks. Thinks about events and experiences.

Drawing with Chalk (ART): Creates original artwork to express thoughts and feelings. Explores and experiments with chalk. Shares opinions and ideas about personal creative work. Engages in a variety of fine motor tasks.

Building Block Towers (BLOCKS): Moves body with balance and control. Builds finger dexterity. Describes the physical properties of objects. Asks questions about materials. Uses language to describe observations. Supports dramatic play.

Taking Care of Babies (DRAMATIC PLAY): Engages in dramatic play. Includes events or characters from familiar stories in dramatic play. Uses play to explore social roles and emotions. 

We will be celebrating Halloween on Tuesday, October 31. Please see letter that went home. Students do not need to pack a snack on Tuesday as we will be having our class party. We will participate in a costume parade along Broadway at 1:45 - parents are invited to line the route. Students should come to school dressed in their costume. Please do not send in accessories.

Hello Families!
Next week we will be taking the week off from our OWL curriculum to celebrate Halloween. We will be busy with Halloween crafts, playing games, and carving our class pumpkin!

Some of activities include: 
Creating candycorn
Franken Faces
Ghost windsocks
Play-doh monsters
Creepy crawlers in sand

Some reminders:
A notice will be sent home on Wednesday (10/25) regarding Halloween Celebrations, look out for it!

Friday, 11/3 is a half day of school, 11:30 dismissal

Hello families!
We have had another exciting week in pre-k! Next week, we will be working on week 3 of OWL Unit 1. Below are the centers and some important reminders.

Marble Box Play (SENSORY/STEM): Observes and explores materials. Explores simple machines. Shows interest and curiosity in trying new activities. Participates successfully as a member of a group.
 
Clay Dough with Baking Props and Recipe Cards (FINE MOTOR): Observes and explores materials. Uses simple tools and machines. Understands that print carries meaning.
 
Marble Painting (ART): Explores and experiments with paint. Describes the physical properties of objects. Coordinates body movement to complete simple tasks. Shows interest and curiosity in trying new activities.
 
Reading Aloud to Dolls (DRAMATIC PLAY): Engages in socio-dramatic play. Initiates interaction with other children. Uses play to explore and practice social roles. Retells stories. Handles books appropriately.

Hello Families!

We had an exciting week in prek! The children seem to enjoy their OWL centers this past week! We will be moving on to our second week of OWL-Unit 1: Families. Please see below for some important notes.

*Tomorrow, Friday (10/6) is a school wide half day. All children will be dismissed at 11:30. Children will need a snack and a drink only (your child will need a lunch if signed up for extended day).

*Next week, please send in 2 photos of your child and their family. These photos will be used for a project in our OWL family unit.

*The Early Childhood Welcome carnival is on Thursday, October 12th from 3:30-5:00. Please return sign up form and payment by Tuesday 10/10. Entry will be through the
E. Broadway gate to the school yard, check in and get a stamp there! It is sure to be a fun family event!

*School Picture Day is on Thursday, 10/12. Children wear their uniforms for picture day.

Save the Date – Lynch Early Childhood Project Information Night, Wednesday October 18th at 6:00.

New Tardiness Policy Effective Immediately:
If your child is tardy, please bring your child to the second O. Street door (extended day door). The bell will call all Preschool classroom phones, a staff member will greet your child at the door shortly after.

Our centers for next week will be:

Painting with primary colors (ART): Creates artwork to express ideas. Explores and experiments with paint and art easel. Uses and cares for art materials.

Playing with family figures (BLOCKS): Engages in conversation and uses language to enter into play. Begins to understand family needs, roles and relationships. Uses classroom materials purposefully and respectfully. Builds awareness of directionality and position in space.

Painting furniture (DRAMATIC PLAY): Uses language while participating in dramatic play. Initiates interactions with other children. Engages in socio-emotional play. Uses play to explore social roles and emotional states.

Pumpkin art (FINE MOTOR): Creates artwork to display in the classroom. Uses fine motor skills to create and decorate festive fall pumpkins.
