Hello families! Next week, we will be working on Week 4 of OWL Unit 5: Shadows & Reflections. Please see below for centers and important reminders. Next week is a busy week! Playing with Plastic Pond & Swamp Animals (SAND/WATER): Engages in socio-dramatic play. Observes and identifies the characteristics and basic requirements of animals. Puppet Theater and Stick Puppets (LITERACY/DRAMATIC PLAY): Retells a story by enacting roles with puppets. Uses and shares books and other print in play. Magnatiles & Flashlights (SCIENCE): Explores color and light. Asks and answers questions. Interacts with others. Playing with Cats & Dogs (DRAMATIC PLAY): Recognize the needs of animals. Takes care of animals. Communicates and interacts with others. Grandparent's/Special Friends Craft (ART) REMINDERS: Wednesday, 5/1: Grandparents Day. Students will be attending 9:00 Mass as a class. Grandparents and special friends are invited to visit our classroom after mass from 10-11. We will have different activities for children and Grandparents/special friends to enjoy! **For safety reasons, children will not be able to leave our classroom with grandparents/special friends. If your child will be dismissed at 11:00 with their grandparent, parents must let your child's teacher know by email before 5/1! Wednesday, 5/1 is a half day of school. All students will be dismissed at 11:30, unless signed up for extended day. Wednesday, 5/1 is also the Art Show. Families are invited to visit the Art Show in the cafeteria after dismissal at 11:30. We hope you have a great April school vacation week! We will start back on Tuesday 4/22 with new centers from our Shadows and Reflections unit. Finding treasures; making collections (SAND AND WATER): Uses a variety of tools and materials to strength hand grasp, flexibility and coordination. Makes comparisons among objects. Sorts objects into sub-groups that vary by one or two attributes. Stars in the night sky paintings (ART): creates two dimensional artwork, participates in activities to explore the earth and sky. City buildings and shadows (BLOCKS): observes and describes the effects on sunlight and shadows. Creates simple representations of communities.
