Hello Families! We had an eventful and exciting week in prek! The children are getting to know their daily schedule and enjoying their OWL centers! We will be moving on to our second week of OWL-Unit 1: Families. Please see below for some important notes. *Friday (10/7) is a school wide half day. All children will be dismissed at noon, including half-day children. Children will need a snack and a drink only (unless attending extended day). *Next week, please send in 2 photos of your child and their family. These photos will be used for a project in our OWL family unit. *The Early Childhood Welcome carnival is on Thursday, October 13th from 3:30-5:00. Sign up forms went home on Wednesday, if you plan to attend please send you form back in your child’s backpack by Thursday, October 6th! (See your child’s teacher if you need an extra copy). It is sure to be a fun family event! Our centers for next week will be: Painting with primary colors (ART): Creates artwork to express ideas. Explores and experiments with paint and art easel. Uses and cares for art materials. Playing with family figures (BLOCKS): Engages in conversation and uses language to enter into play. Begins to understand family needs, roles and relationships. Uses classroom materials purposefully and respectfully. Builds awareness of directionality and position in space. Painting furniture (DRAMATIC PLAY): Uses language while participating in dramatic play. Initiates interactions with other children. Engages in socio-emotional play. Uses play to explore social roles and emotional states. Acorn art (FINE MOTOR): Creates artwork to display in the classroom. Uses fine motor skills to create and decorate festive fall acorns. Small group- Shadow writing names: Children practice name writing and proper pencil grasp.
